Tigers in the Fairy Garden ;)

This piece of remnant has been sitting in my scraps box screaming at me to do something with it. So I finally did, it took about 5minutes and the kids absolutely loved it :) They spent most of the day running around growling and playing together as tigers.

The piece I had was 40cm x 150cm I folded it in half and cut about 5cm off the edge to make the tail, then cut the remaining fabric in half so I had 2 pieces that were 35cm wide and 75cm long. I folded each of these pieces in half again and then I made a 1cm cut in the very center of the fabric and extending it along the fold for there heads. Since my kids have large heads I also cut down a little at the front so I had cut a T shape. Then I took the piece I'd cut for the tail and cut it in half so it was 5cm x 75cm and stitched it onto the middle of the back of the piece of fabric. Since I used minkee it needs no heaming, although I would sew the tail on with your sewing machine as our tails got pulled a lot and are now a lot longer than they were when we started :)

There you go a very simple tigers costume, that was heaps of fun to play in and took next to no time :)

Magic Cordial and Magic Jelly

These are our favorite treats at the moment

Magic Cordial

1 cup of Castor Sugar
1 tsp Citric Acid

Mix together in an air tight container and shake really well. Then pop a tsp (or to taste) in a glass of water and stir until dissolved.
Instant lemon coridal without preservative or colours = a happy house - the kids think its fantastic - maybe I deprive them - LOL

Magic Jelly

1 cup of Castor Sugar
1 tsp of Citric Acid
1 cup of Warm water

mix together until dissolved, add 600ml of cold water

Dissolve 6-8 tsp of gelatine in 1 cup of boiling water, then add to the sugar/water/citric acid mix and pop in the fridge, we usually pop some colour in now though. The pink or yellow natural food colours are great, the blue and green are a little muddy :(

It takes about 6 hours to really set properly. This makes just over a litre of jelly but it never lasts long here - LOL

Hope you are having a great week

New website

Jill and I are working on a new website, so that will be coming soon :)

Thursday, June 11, 2009

Hmmm

So I think I won the award for the slackest blogger ever LOL.

So I thought I'd post a few picks of some of the secret stuff we have been working on for the last few months SHHHHHH don't tell Jill I told you LOL - ;)

So this fabric is on a boat next week and should be here in about a month - probably in time for me to make another blog post - ROFL

It will be available, in nappy cuts, per metre, and wholesale per m and per 10m.

Also due in early July is Bamboo Fleece, we decided on 70% Bamboo 30% Organic Cotton 430gsm fleece, we chose the 70/30 composition as in our experience the slightly higher cotton component makes for a stronger, longer lasting fabric, without significantly affecting the absorption. This will be available in 1/2m, and 10m quantities for retail and 1m and 10m rolls wholesale.

I need to take some photo's tomorrow to show you what we've been up to this last month, but things that come to mind are a new one sized nappy pattern, new FOE prints and plain, chalkboard cloth, silk noil, new microfleece.

Hmm whats on the way, more Poly PUL.

The Benartex minkee seconds are still available, if you;d like a sample let me know and I'll post it out to you.

Whats New This Week?

We had a lovely time away and I've come back to some new stock to list.

First up there are new playsilks, in lots of different sizes. These are great for getting kids imaginations running wild. They are sold in white but are very easy to dye with procion dyes or food colour. If you want instructions just ask us :).

Secondly we have a new lot of engraved snaps arrive, some are just refills, but we have some new designs, a very pretty rose in crimson and mushroom pink and some really funky aliens that will go nicely with a polyester PUL we are getting in the next couple of months.

We have also just got woven size labels in S, M and L.

Finally we've had a new shipment of Minkee, there's now Citris, Raspberry and Huckleberry in the Minkee PUL and also some more Aqua Sea, and Rainforest now available in the plain Minkee. The chocolate mudcake minkee is currently on Back order and should be here within the next 6 weeks.

Just some picture from our holiday.
